Cincinnati goes on an eight-game winning streak with a perfect 5-0 record.
They are 9-2 after beating the Jets on Thursday night and now travel to Cincinnati to face the 3-7 Bengals.New England is undefeated on the road and is chasing Drake Maye, who leads the league in completions and passing percentage.
Winners of eight straight games, the injuries are starting to pile up for the team, with defensive end Milton Williams landing on IR this week. But the PATS could get better at several key positions in recent weeks, including running back.
The Bengals, who have been explosive at times under Flacco, amassed nearly 1,400 yards of offense in three games before the bye week, but they are coming off a 12-point, 297-yard loss against Pittsburgh and are last in defensive DVOA, also leading the NFL in wins.game for the spitting incident against the Steelers last week.
Here are three things to pay attention to.
1. Flako stress (or burrow)
Flacco has stabilized Cincinnati's offense and made them competitive with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, but pressure is his kryptonite.Against pressure, he has a 31.1 passer rating, no touchdowns and five interceptions. When his time to throw exceeds 2.5 seconds, his rating drops to 57.0, with two touchdowns and four picks.Against the blitz it's even worse: 31.0 passer rating and three interceptions.
There is little doubt that the defensive front should chase the veteran and force it to become uncomfortable.
The gameplan should be the same as starting quarterback Joe Burrong. The pressure is on a player who hasn't played since week 2.
The absence of Milton Williams is a huge blow, but considering the depth that includes Christian Barmore (31 pressures), it is not a death sentence.Still, that could mean more attacks.New England completed 27.3% of its snaps against the Jets, hovering around league average (28%) all year. With Harold Landry (5.5 sacks) and K'Lavon Chaisson (32 pressures) leading the team, getting to Flacco is a top priority.
Players like Coordin' and Rookie Yuakick at the time of the next are like those who were recorded in each other twice.
2. Single
STEVENDE STEVESENS AFTER HERE BROKEN BY BREAK Treveyon Henderson will be great.Henderson increased with five touchdowns in three games, including a soccer-high 19 carriers vs vs vs vs vs jet and distribution of five. Its development has been serious, but the two-headed attack provides balance and extreme running intensity.
The Bengals' defense is heavy on tolerance. They're 30th or worse in carry attempts and yards allowed, and on their carries, Gillies and High have combined for 500 yards against them. This is the perfect game for New England to open up the ground game and revamp the offense.
3. Ready to take it out
Cincinnati quarterback Dvoise is 32nd in passing yards, 32nd in points allowed and 32nd in yards allowed.Almost MVP candidate Drake Maye should have every chance to shine.Maye leads the NFL in passing yards (2,836) and passing yards (71.9%), with 10 touchdowns on 20 passes and just five interceptions.Led with .285 rushing yards and added two rushing scores.
The offense ranks 9th in DVOA, 7th in EPA/games, 7th in points scored and 9th in yards allowed. With the potential returns of Stevenson, KeShon Bout and Austin Hooper, if the offensive line keeps Meyer clean like he did against the Jets, he has the ability to boost the league's worst defense.
