Former Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin argued that trading for the Tiger ace would allow the Bombers to "take over the entire league."

Maybin — who had a rough 2019 with the Yankees — is not surprising that he was traded by the Tigers when he was sent to the Marlins as part of a huge eight-player trade in December 2007 that sent Miguel Cabrera to Detroit slugger.
The retired worker tore down the management of his old Skubal team.
"The Tigers obviously don't want to pay him, or they're already paying him ... I'm sure they're trying to justify or convince themselves [how] maybe it wouldn't be wise to pay Scovel what he deserves," Maybin said.
29, is definitely the best starting pitcher in baseball.
The lefty won his second consecutive American League Cy Young Award in 2025, going 13-6 with a 2.21 ERA in 31 starts.
In 2024 Skubal won the AL Triple Crown, leading the league in wins (18), ERA (2.39) and strikeouts (228).
Despite the success, the Tigers didn't want to face the biggest price tag in free agency after the 2026 season, suggesting trade rumors are reasonable.
Jon Heyman reported last month that negotiations fell short of $250 million.
Skubal dismissed trade talks - wondering why his name was even mentioned.
"It's all out of my control. ... I don't want to be traded, so it's kind of, why should I start these conversations?"Skubal told Foul Territory on Thursday."After all, nothing is stopping what I'm going to do today."
Maybin added that the acquisition of Skubal, along with another Cy Young winner believed to be available on the trade market, would bolster the Yankees for the next few seasons.
"But imagine pairing him with a healthy Sandy Alcantara from the Bronx and [Max] Fried, [Gerrit] Cole and [Carlos] Rodon," Maybin said."This is a playoff nightmare for any lineup in baseball. I don't want to hear anything about payroll. This is the Yankees."
