Conor McGregor responds to Dana White canceling Michael Chandler fight - 'Choose who you want!'
The "celebrities" don't care.
Unannounced, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White today announced that former Conor McGregor's two-department champions will not fight Michael Chandler at the historic UFC Ty White House event organized for June 2026, with a straightforward redundancy: "No, that was years ago."
McGregor didn't take long to respond.
In a now-deleted Twitter post, the Irish superstar dismissed the news and made it clear the UFC was not disappointed by the planned change.
McGregor and Chandler were originally scheduled to headline UFC 303 during International Fight Week 2024, with the two training against each other for the final bout.However, the much-anticipated showdown fell through when McGregor pulled out with a broken little finger, and his comeback was once again derailed.
Chandler, meanwhile, put his career on hold for almost a full year in anticipation of McGregor's payday — a gamble that never panned out.The former Bellator champion eventually returned to action, but McGregor's fight has now been dropped for the second time and appears to be dead.
That said, White has been known to change tack - or deliberately throw people off - especially when McGregor is involved.
As for "The Notorious," the UFC's biggest star has not competed since suffering a gruesome broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. Although he has returned several times over the years, McGregor insisted that he is finally in the right space for his long overdue comeback - in the White House or against a completely different opponent.
The head of the UFC will start the game for the UFC White House after UFC 325 on March 1.
