Former Raptors star Kyle Lowry praises Toronto as 76ers beat -

76ers guard Kyle Lowry, 39, a six-time All-Star and former Raptor, drew a standing ovation when he checked in in the final 1:57 of Philadelphia's 115-102 win over Toronto on Monday, in what could be his final appearance in the city that won the 2019 NBA championship.

TORONTO - It was a close come-from-behind win, but it meant everything to Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry.

The six-time All-Star got a standing ovation when he checked in for the final 1:57 of Philadelphia's 115-102 win Monday night in Toronto.

It could be the 39-year-old's last appearance in the city where he spent nine seasons and won the NBA championship in 2019.

"I had the opportunity to experience maybe one of the greatest moments of basketball of my career," said Lowry. Lowry charged for the first time since December 23 against Brooklyn and gave up the ball.

With the home team facing a double-digit deficit most of the night, the crowd of 18,127 began chanting "We want Lowry!"in the fourth quarter.

Nick Nurse, the 76ers coach who led Toronto to the 2019 title, exploded when Lowry was asked to replace Tyrese Maxey.

"I thought they didn't think I was really going to do it, but I was planning for it and I had a great time doing it," the nurse said of the crowd's reaction."It was nice to be able to get out there by myself."

Lowry hit a 3-pointer on his first attempt and missed three shots from long range.

"We called a play on him right after the timeout, and he probably wasn't prepared for it at all," Nurse said."It's a shame he didn't go in because he had it at stake."

Lowry is in his 20th NBA season. He arrived at Sunday's game in Toronto wearing an Auston Matthews Maple Leafs jersey, and reiterated his plan to eventually sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a Raptor.

"That hasn't changed," Lowry said Sunday.
