In the year In the first mock of the 2026 draft, Mike Band should join Jeremiah Love with a young electric quarterback. In addition, a QB-challenged team will pass on the position via trade.See full 1st round predictions, 1-32.

The best drafts are built on signals, not guesswork.

For this projection, I weighed post-free agency needs, scheme adjustments, front office trends, potential team connections, and market signals on all 32 clubs.IQ powered by Amazon Quick helped me test team needs, draft capital, and realistic outcomes before putting this mockup together. Here's what I see playing the first round.

NOTE: Network and + will broadcast the 2026 Draft live April 23-25.

Mendoza has been the favorite to go to number one for months. At this point, it would be surprising if the Raiders go the other way.Tom Brady's public praise for Mendoza's play and leadership only adds to the sense that Las Vegas sees him as a viable player to build around.

Head coach Aaron Glenn made clear the Jets' priorities after the 2025 draft: toughness, physicality and building from the inside.Without a compelling quarterback at No. 2, Gang Green selects Reese. The Ohio State product is a clear fit as a violent, versatile front-seven weapon that fits the identity this New York regime wants to establish.

Arizona's franchise's future will have a better chance if the Cardinals start building a pitching staff. With Parris Johnson Jr.Locked in on the left, Mauigoa gives Arizona a long-term answer at the right and helps to strengthen the pocket in an area built on pressure.

With Robert Saleh now running the show, Tennessee feels like a prime candidate to prioritize the type of edge rush that can create a deep front 9. Bailey's 4.50 speed, disruptive production, and LION's natural projection make him the perfect fit for a Titans defense that still lacks a true No. 1 edge rusher.

Considering John Harbaugh as a target, this appears to be a choice that reflects a "golden jacket" mentality rather than rigid rules about positional value.Styles gives the Giants a franchise-defining quarterback whose size, range and physicality match the mold Harbaugh has long valued at center while also matching GM Joe Schoen's history of focusing on elite athletes with elite production.

The Browns have a real OT-versus-WR decision to make, and I wouldn't rule out GM Andrew Berry moving back if the board breaks in some way.But if Cleveland stays at No. 6, Freeling feels like the cleanest matchup: a top-position athlete with the upside Berry has consistently pursued, and one who gives the Browns a long-term answer at the spot (left tackle) they can't afford to go without.

Adam Peters' spending on defense in free agency gives Washington the freedom to make a run against a sorely needed draft pick here.Even with the WR2 position opposite Terry McLaurin emerging as a viable target, Love fits exactly what Peters said he wants more of this season: "young, really quick, exciting, explosive talent."This versatile back adds another look at Jayden Daniels and the offense.

The eighth pick out of New Orleans appears to be a staple in this draft, with wide receiver and edge rusher emerging as popular routes.I put Tate on the Saints here because he fits Kellen Moore's desire for a diverse receiving room, while giving Tyler Shough a perfect complement to Chris Olave. Not to mention, Tate clearly has a connection to the team, given that the Saints had dinner with Ohio State's top prospect before the Buckeyes' pro day.

The Chiefs could go in a few different directions here, but the edge rusher feels like a neat intersection of need, board value and front-office philosophy.GM Brett Veitch has been transparent about how difficult it is to find impact players, and after Kansas City tied for No. 22 in 2025 without much help against George Karlaftis, Bain fits the type of premium front-seven investment he's shown he's willing to make.

Cincinnati's offseason move gave Duke Tobin the flexibility to get on the boards at No. 10, and if Downs remains available, he'll be a tough player as the Bengals clearly need more difference-makers on defense. Ohio State's safety, meanwhile, is versatile and has a high IQ. That could help stabilize the secondary on units that need more plays.

The reset of Miami's roster makes it hard to ignore the Packers DNA currently running the operation. With GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and HC Jeff Hafley inheriting a team carrying a staggering amount of dead money and plenty of long-term cap space, I see Miami leaning on a familiar first-round formula: drafting a big, athletic, press-capable cornerback.Delane's traits fit the mold of Green Bay and Hafley's defensive outlook.

McCoy's ACL injury could create a valuable opportunity here, with the top 10 likely missing out because he just missed the entire 2025 season. And with new defensive coordinator Christian Parker having a strong history of playing rising quarterbacks like Patrick Surtain II and Quinyon Mitchell, it feels like a natural place for Dallas to invest at the position.

Les Snead's entire offseason philosophy has been to use free agency so the Rams don't have a shot on draft night, which makes the real-arms pick feel out in the open here. After building the league's most TE-driven offense in 2025 with a 30.5% 13 percent personnel, according to Next Gen Stats, Los Angeles could go double with Sadick, an explosive matchup figure who posted a 4.39 40, the fastest by a tight end since at least 2003.

Fano makes a lot of sense here as an elite power forward with five-position flexibility, giving Baltimore instant options at guard or center while still providing valuable insurance. This neat fit: Fano checks several boxes for the Ravens as a Power Four prospect with strong athletic potential, team captain credentials and deep football bloodlines, with four uncles who played and a potential brother in 2026.

GM Jason Licht bluntly stated at the Scouting Combine that the Bucs "need to get more pressure on the quarterback," making this a natural place to target outside edge help.Mesidor offers a ready, game-winning pass rush now as a high-motor, versatile switch that could bolster Tampa Bay's Day 1 pass rush.

With Garrett Wilson returning from injury in a receiver room that still needs more juice, Lemon makes a lot of sense here as a separator and tone-setter.His competitive style is in line with Aaron Glenn's vision of team building, and there is an easy stylistic parallel to Amon-Ra St.Brown mold by Glenn in Detroit.

After the release of Taylor Decker, this feels like a place where Detroit plans to protect its identity.Miller gives the Lions a reliable tackle to help rebuild the front end that powered this team at its best.

With Rob Brzezinski now leading Minnesota's football operations through the draft and veteran college scouting director Mike Sholiton helping guide the process, the Vikings feel more likely to take a smart, robust swing than force a splash here.In Brian Flores' pressure-heavy structure, safeties are prime pieces, and Thieneman could be the heir apparent to Harrison Smith in the backfield.

Carolina looks like a real team with its best players, with Dan Morgan's aggressive spending spree in free agency helping to address key needs in the first round. Woods is a perfect fit for the BPA approach, giving the Panthers another key disruptor to go along with Derrick Brown as they continue to add pieces to a defense that took a meaningful step forward last season.

Dallas has made it clear that improving the defense remains a priority this offseason.Against Christian Parker, Faulk gives exactly what Brian Schottenheimer said he wants from an outside linebacker: sets the edge, affects the quarterback and gives this unit another young piece to build around.

With Mike McCarthy now in charge, the Steelers still value receivers who can separate and finish through contact, while Tyson DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman fit the type of polished, early starters who can move around a small room.

This lends itself to a cleaner team player round.Joe Hortiz has already made it clear that Justin Herbert's defense is a priority, the Chargers don't have much going forward, and Mike McDaniel's scheme will require more range from his offensive linemen.Ioane checks all those boxes as a strong, powerful interior blocker with the profile of a day one starter.

Few teams are more comfortable investing in an offensive line than Philadelphia -- which has been central to Howie Roseman's building philosophy for years. The Eagles return all five O-line starters in 2026, but Proctor will provide a step forward with a tackle of rare size who can be developed as long-term coverage on the outside and, if needed, quickly provide flexibility on the interior.

If the Browns select an offensive tackle in the sixth round, wide receiver feels like a logical follow-up later in the first round. Cooper checks off many of the things Andrew Berry is capable of: skilled, physical, reliable and versatile enough to give Cleveland another much-needed source of strength against Jerry Jeudy.

With Kevin Byard (New England) and Jaquan Brisker (Pittsburgh) both in free agency, McNeil-Warren should appeal to the Bears as a long, rangy safety with real ball-selling ability and versatility to function as a top defender. He fits the profile Chicago seems to value in this cycle: a pacesetter who can play through contact, clear gaps in the backfield and take the ball away from multiple lineups.

After moving on from Kyler Murray, Arizona has Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew on the QB depth chart.Translation: The Cardinals are firmly in the market for the quarterback of the future.Simpson's return in Round 1 would match the smoke rising from his form in the Mike LaFleur offense, giving the Cards a play-friendly passer who can develop behind a veteran deck. The Bills are strong trade candidates because they don't have a second-round pick and are 27th in draft capital over the next two years, according to IQ.

Offensive line stood out as one of San Francisco's most glaring needs after the fury of free agency, especially with no long-term succession plan behind Trent Williams, who turns 38 in July and is now stuck in contact.Lowe will give Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch high-low tackles to build behind the All-Pro left tackle while bolstering a front that looks thinner than in years past.

Houston spent another offseason overhauling its offensive line, keeping defensive backbone Nick Caserion closer to the other end of the ball. While the Texans added some veterans in free agency, McDonald is a strong interior presence that helps keep DiMeco's Ryan D-line deep, physical and disruptive.

With the Trent McDuffie trade giving Kansas City that extra championship, cornerback seems like one of the more logical spots to revisit. The Chiefs have seen a lot of turnover in the secondary this season, and Terrell would give Steve Spagnuolo another competitive man to fill out a unit that suddenly needs a boost.

Miami has every reason to continue investing in the front office after releasing Bradley Chubb, which will give the new Dolphins the opportunity to develop another young pass-rushing talent. Jeff Hafley will like Howell's motor.

That need is evident in New England, with Patriots.com writer Mike Dussault calling the edge a big hole on the roster while noting that the defense just didn't generate enough pressure last season with four standard plays.Parker is a good answer for a team that is still trying to build a competitive front.

After the departure of Riq Woolen in free agency, cornerback is a place Seattle could use more depth and competition. With great size (a hair under 6 feet, 193 pounds) and speed (4.44 40), Hood gives Mike Macdonald an interesting outside option in the secondary.
