Minnesota's latest news

Multitasking is a theme this part of the NFL calendar, especially. The frenzy of free agency is in motion — the new league year begins Wednesday — and at the same time, we can't take our eyes off the 2026 draft.

Of course, the previous stage could change or strengthen - how the club attacks the 44-day annual event.

For a quick break from the action that has already taken place in the free agent negotiation window, let's check with NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah in his updated Top 50 list.

Jeremiah recently revealed the third iteration of his list, and he highlighted some of the risers and fallers from the scouting combine that featured player performance, as well as questions about some of the guys who got a chance to try out in Indianapolis to showcase their skills on the Pro Day stage.

Ohio State linebacker Sonny Stiles is a prime example of someone who helped his cause with an "excessive show" in front of the offense, coaches and officials in Indy;Stiles moved up two spots to No. 3 in the prospect rankings, behind Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza and Notre Dame RB Jeremiah Love.

Other receivers in Jeremiah's top ten are Buckeyes wide receiver Kernel Tate and safety Caleb Downs;they are number 6 and 8;and Miami tackle Francis Mauigoa, who, at No. 10, Jeremiah thinks will be a "major run blocker" and "effective in pass protection."

Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman, who was mocked 18th overall by Minnesota in 14 of the 25 different simulations we covered in version 4.0 of our Mock Draft Tracker series, is tied for the second-furthest jump among Jeremiah's top two dozen players.Currently ranked No. 17 -- an improvement of six spots -- and just behind another versatile safety prospect Emmanuel McNeil-Warren of Toledo, who fell one spot, Thieneman "does a lot of different things at a very high level" and has skills that are "highly coveted" in the NFL.

Alabama T Kadyn Proctor also climbed six spots to Jeremiah's No. 23 ranking, and Utah's Caleb Lomu — one of two highly touted Utah OLs (Spencer Fano is No. 14) — received the biggest revision in the Top 40, moving up seven spots to No. 24.

Overall, five prospects went beyond "unranked" status to enter the top 50: San Diego State CB Chris Johnson (No. 42; technically a top mover), UCF tight end Malachi Lawrence (43), Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez (45), Texas A&M IOL Chase Pirsonti (50) 4.

Including them knocks out Georgia DT Christen Miller (had 41), Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields (44), Cincinnati LB Jake Goldaj (48), Oklahoma WR Deion Burks (49) and Georgia WR Zachariah Branch (50).

Meet NFL IQ

Want to outsmart your friends and impress your partner?Yes, the league just threw out all the tools to help inform you about the 32 NFL clubs, free agency, and the NFL Draft;information you would normally get through a few questions is now stored in NFL IQ.

This is a new platform developed by Amazon Quick that includes next-generation statistics, which you can find here.

We won't try to explain its full functionality to you (heck, we're still playing with it), but we will tell you that NFL IQ has a "Team Central" tab that gives you relevant information about each organization's 2026 roster, which can be sorted by "Starters," as well as "Top 51" and "90." Additionally, it contains each team's free agent board and a draft preview area that includes prospects ranked by how often they appear in mock drafts, as welllike Jeremiah's top 50 list mentioned above. The details are fantastic. Incredibly innovative and will improve your football knowledge.

Some of our favorite data points after clicking on the main "Free Agency" tab are the players' top speed measured by NGS, plus position alignment and average capture per game.Meanwhile, the "NFL Draft" tab contains scouting Combine results in addition to athletes and production scores, and more.
