The last time the head coach met with the media was in the Bay Area the day after the Super Bowl LX victory.
SAN FRANCISCO - The day after his first Super Bowl victory, head coach Mike McDonald took to a podium inside the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco after being introduced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.McDonald was no longer wearing his M.O.B chain, a chain awarded to every player on the team, or his championship shirt, but he was grinning from ear to ear Monday morning.
Defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in the Super Bowl.In Sunday's win, the stars of the game were Kenneth Walker III, who was named Super Bowl MVP, as well as the entire defense.MacDonald was concerned Saturday about the game plan, the different plays and how the game would flow.
“I told the team on Saturday night that I had a bad practice in my office with the rest of our coaching staff,” MacDonald said.he said."When we're thinking about the games and what we're going to play and how it's going to go, and then you move around the players and you look at them and suddenly all those concerns magically disappear and I think that shows in how they play. The way the players played, the non-stop play throughout the game, was really impressive and it was really about the players playing."To be proud."
Now that Seattle has won the Super Bowl and made it clear to the league that the team, especially the defense, is the “best in the world,” it now has a goal in its sights. And to combat that, MacDonald said the team will simply stick to its core principles.
"We use the term chasing edges here in Seattle," Macdonald said."You have to live like that. You can't copy everybody else. We want to be at the top of things. We know we're at the No. 1 goal right now, but again, it's really going to be our attitude to continue to push the envelope with our personnel, where we can take things, at our pace, you know, and so, there's going to be times when the team goes forward and repeats the season. well.
Even heading into Sunday, another key principle Seattle must stick to is piling up wins.
"If you talk about gathering and gathering winners, this is one of our main ideas, you have to believe and believe in the ability to do this in the long term. So you can take everything from our team and you can return to that idea... There are always areas of your team that you try to attack and improve, but if you follow the work, you will see what results come. the door in April, starting with our offseason program, then going to training camp and how they treated the offseason, wedone week by week.
