Gainesville, Fla. - Sophomore defensive tackle Michai Boiro made an improbable game-saving interception with 21 seconds left, giving Florida its first in two years with a 23-21 victory over Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Spuridaseldol Bueldorl. The victoryAfter a UF punt by quarterback Blake Schepen with 1:38 remaining, MSU's offense faced a second-and-10 at the Florida 29, within field goal range of Kyle Ferry, and a timeout with 29 seconds left.Schepen, who had shredded Florida's defense for 324 yards through the air, dropped and, on a crossing route, bent to the right side.for 105 yards Already with 11 catches, he found Anthony Evans III.What Schaepen didn't see was Boiro, a 6-foot-5, 349-pound sophomore defensive lineman, dropping into low coverage.
Shaban threw a pass about 10 yards from Poirot, put his glove in the air, and made the close-range catch, saving the day and sealing the victory as "The Swamp" went wild.
UF SomoMocomferness Edsufy jaydan bard made three field goals for 150 yards and a touchdown, tying up a 530-Wordin tight end communication effort.Gary Sophomore finished for 280 yards and two touchdowns, MSU's fourth quarterback for 105 yards and two scores.
Mississippi State had 468 total yards to Florida's 452.
The Bulldogs took an early lead thanks to a 48-yard play by Shapen-Evans on second offense, moving the visitors to the UF 21. Five plays later, running back Kamario Taylor replaced Shapen and scored on a 2-yard run out of the wildcat formation for a 7-0 lead in under three minutes.
Settle rolled downfield and, courtesy of the 35, UF hit a 54-yard field goal to extend the lead to 13-7.
After a botched third period, UF led the Gators to within 20-7 with 13:41 left on an 11-play, 93-yard drive by Kd Daniels on a 1-yard field goal.UF lined up for a two-point conversion, but a 12-man field was called and forced to settle for a punt and a 13-point deficit.
The Bulldogs needed just five plays to offset that TD, with Booth finishing a 65-yard drive with a 2-yard run with 11:57 to go that closed the home team's margin to 20-14. With the game in the balance, Florida's best offense turned out to be Mississippi State's defense, as the Bulldogs were flagged for two personal fouls over the next six snaps, including a roughing-the-passer call on a failed third-down conversion, that helped UF move to the MSU 31. The Gators did themselves no favors with a offensive pass interference penalty, but Smack was good from 53 yards (the eighth field goal of at least 50 yards of his career) and the Florida lead was 23-14 inside seven minutes remaining.
That's when Shapen took down the Gators on a five-play, 65-yard drive, aided by an interception pass to the end zone against quarterback Jadan Robinson for an incompletion on third-and-goal from the 8. Booth scored two plays later to make it 23-21 with two minutes to go.
Lagway and his offense had a chance to end the game on first down, but a third-and-1 down the sideline was a long field goal.Mississippi State took over at the 28 with 1:32 left.
Seventy-three seconds later, Michai Boireau was a household name in the Gator Nation.
