'A little more swag:' As Drake Maye enters MVP conversation, Patriots veteran impresses growth as leader -

FOXBORO — Drake Maye is in the MVP conversation.

After Sunday's win over the Titans, Maye has the NFL's fourth-best prospect (+950) for the league's biggest regular-season prize on DraftKings, behind Patrick Mahomes (+150), Baker Mayfield (+320) and Josh Allen (+400).

Maye excels in traditional metrics like completion percentage (75.2%, 2nd) and passer rating (116.4, 2nd), as well as advanced metrics like EPA/play (0.26, 3rd).It's no coincidence that the Patriots are riding a four-game winning streak and are 5-2.

Mayo quarterback Austin Hooper had a breakout performance in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Titans.He says the sophomore quarterback is also raising his game as a leader.

“Seeing where he’s at now, seeing the leadership, seeing the command in the huddle, seeing him be willing to say, ‘Hey, insert name, I need this like this.’ Just subtle things like that,” Hooper said. “Where it’s just showing like, ‘Hey, if you want the ball, this is what I expect,’ in a very nice Drake way. Just getting the point across of like, ‘Hey, this is what I need from you to get whatever done.’

"So from that perspective, you can definitely see the growth," continued Hooper."You can see the comfort that comes out of the Rockies over the years. It's a little bit more swag. It's what it's all about."
