The San Francisco 49ers didn't put up much of a fight in the NFC divisional round against the Seattle Seahawks, ending their season with a 41-6 loss at Lumen Field.
How Zach Charbonnet's injury affects the Seahawks
The Seahawks beat the 49ers for the second time in a two-week span after Seattle held San Francisco to just one field goal through eight quarters. However, some on the 49ers refused to give the Seahawks credit after Saturday's game, citing the losses to injuries that sidelined Pro Bowl linebacker George Kittle and linebacker Fred Warner.
Levi Takle Trent Williams, another perennial pro bowler for the Niners, said after the game that his team was doing "a lot of things" as a medical team.
"When you're playing against guys, you go into the team, you get people off the street, I mean, you have to lower your expectations a little bit," Williams said.
And then there was Deommodore Lenoir, who has been stirring things up for the Seahawks in the past. When asked if he thought Saturday's game would have had a different outcome if the 49ers had been healthy, he replied, "Sweeps."
The fact is that the Niners are not healthy and Seattle's Brock and Salk stressed on Monday that it is an important part of becoming a successful football team that should not be overlooked.
"You're not 70 strong," said Brock Huard, a former NFL analyst and longtime football analyst, referring to the NFL's 53-man active and 17-man practice squad.
Huard manager Mike Salk was upset at the 49ers' postgame talk Saturday.
"That's another reason why everything can shut down in San Francisco," Salk said."Oh, (49ers running back) Christian McCaffrey got beat up a little bit. Yeah, of course he did, because you ran him into the ground. Because your roster isn't built to handle the rigors of a full season.
Salk shut down the 49ers' excuses.
"I don't like the conversation after that. I don't like to defend myself. If you lose, you lose. Shut up and walk away. Like, hey, tip your hat. They were better than both of us three weeks ago. They beat us to death. Crying and head banging and not (saying) we're hurt — like, shut up. It's funny.
"Don't give up on your opponent when they beat you. Don't speak prematurely and then speak afterwards. Win. Speak your mind.
