Vonn, 41, won her second World Cup title this season
Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn continued her remarkable comeback with her second downhill World Cup title of the season in Zauchensee, Austria.
The 41-year-old American retired from the sport in February 2019, but returned to competition in December 2024 after a partial knee replacement.
In December, she was the oldest World Cup Alpine Ski Champion with a win in St Moritz, Switzerland.
At Zauchensee, Vonn was fastest, 0.37 seconds ahead of Norwegian Kaisa Wickhoff Lee in a race of one minute 06.24 seconds, with American Jacqueline Wiles third, 0.48 slower than Vonn.
It marked Vonn's fourth podium from four downhills this season and extended her lead in the World Cup standings.
"Honestly, I thought with my starting number I didn't have a chance because there was a lot of snow and there really wasn't a track in place six," Vonn, who now has 84 World Cup wins across all disciplines, told TNT Sports.
"I had to take a big risk in my line to hunt, I think I executed my plan well, I was strong in my race.
"Also, I thought I had no chance, so I was very nervous. I thought 'I could be last, I could be first. I have no idea, but I will do my best'."
Vonn, who won one gold medal and two bronze medals in the Olympics, is on track to represent the United States in the Milan-Cortina Winter Games to be held between February 6-22.
